Mobile commerce command highest rates

With the boom in m-commerce, IT contractor can command high rates.  M-commerce really took off this year with more and more companies demanding mobile platforms for their customers.  From smartphones to tablets and apps, m-commerce is taking the IT world by storm.

Due to the expertise needed and the high level of skills required, m-commerce IT contractors are able to command around 20% more than e-commerce counterparts.  A junior m-commerce designer will earn around £350 per day where as an e-commerce designer will earn around £280.

The retail sector is the area that has seen most need this year for m-commerce.  With many retailers wanting apps and mobile websites that makes the shopping experience even easier for their customers.  Director at ReThink, Ian Blair, has said, “This is now a top priority for all the major retailers.  Most see it as far more critical than more traditional areas of spend, such as investment in store payment systems or upgrading store fittings.

“Some retailers feel that they missed out in the initial e-commerce land grab and that they are not going to make the same mistake with m-commerce.”

The financial sector is now the latest to up their level of IT contractors as they look to branch into the m-commerce field.  Many are paying more for IT contractors so that they can secure the best level of staff and skills that they can.

If you are an IT contractor with m-commerce skills then now is the time to polish that CV and get your name out there.  With a new year, new budgets and plans, it could be a very exciting and lucrative time for IT contractors.
