David Hughes

When starting out in my work life I found quite early on that I had a flair for moving businesses forward, which in turn often led to questioning the business I worked within.

I had a very good head for numbers and problem solving and I started working in the Contractor sector as a Tax Consultant at the dawn of IR35 back in 2000 and it was a challenging time to enter such a competitive arena.

I initially worked for a small practice specialising in the Contractor market and after 3 years decided to branch out and set up my own business. In doing so I partnered with another more established company and set up a business working under their banner. This was highly successful but I felt stifled working within another company and hence the dawn of Accountants4Contractors which is the business that I set up with my business partner Steve Blissett in 2006.

Our business has a focus on Contractors and Small businesses and within the company we have well over 60 years of qualified and quality expertise.

I have spent the last 10 years dealing with IR35, contracts, HMRC legislation changes and amendments and I pride myself in delivering bespoke advice and guidance to all clients whilst ensuring that this is something that they can understand.

My role within our business is Managing Director and as part of this role I determine the tax strategy that is used for our clients, whilst ensuring that the team delivery a quality service on a daily basis.

Personal Profile

I have been with my wife for over 20 happy years and we have two small beautiful daughters aged 6 and 4.

I try my best to create a good work life balance by working at home as often as I can so that I get to spend time with the family and this often results in the girls taking my phone and hiding it so that they get more time with me away from work!

My passions in life are my family, my work and then cars, holidays and the odd round of badly played golf.
